The author seems to be very credible. Joan Jacobs Brumberg is a historian who graduated from the University of Rochester. Her interest in Anorexia Nervosa stemmed in part from her observations of social change in her lifetime. In 1985 she became a faculty member at Cornell University. She taught on the history of American women and the family. She has a broad backround in history, and has been researching anorexia for over 30 years. I believe the publisher to be credible too. This book was not only published for the United States but also in many other countries around the world.
